I’m obsessed with the British Royal family. Kate Middleton is someone I admire, and I love her style. So, I decided to ask my stylist for a Kate Middleton inspired Fix! I’m so excited about this Fix and it’s perfect for the winter season!

#1 – 41Hawthorn Gilda Polka Dot Pullover
The first item is a super cute polka dot sweater. I’m a fan of comfy, slightly baggy, sweaters for some of those chillier days or casual weekends. This pullover fits the bill. I love how the polka dots give it a feminine touch. Pair this sweater with black jeans and flats and you’ll be ready for those cold winter days in style!

#2 – Liverpool Kennedy Skinny Pants
When I pulled these bad boys out it was love at first sight. I’ve been dying to receive a pair of purple pants ever since I saw an outfit on Pinterest, and these pants do not disappoint! They are fabulous. You can dress them up or down effortlessly. Not only are they an amazing color, but they fit and feel like butter. One thing to note, the pockets on these pants aren’t real, which is the only let down. Kate Middleton would definitely rock a pair of these pants. Kudos to my stylist, Jan! Jan recommends pairing these pants with the above polka dot pullover, and I couldn’t agree more. It might just become my go to outfit for the season. See the pants on me in the next item review below.

#3 – Kut from the Kloth Sinclaire Button Front Blouse
I’ve been big into floral lately, and it seems to be on trend too. The colors on this Kut from the Kloth blouse are beautiful. You’ll notice the top is very transparent, even though it has a busy floral print. If you’re not feeling the see through look, and want to hide your bra or stomach, throw on a camisole, otherwise rock it! I probably wouldn’t have purchased this top for myself from a traditional store, thinking the transparency of the top would be inappropriate or too fashion forward for me, but I kind of dig it. I definitely feel my fashion barriers being shifting a bit, and for the good! Just cut the tag off, something I should have done first 🙂

#4 -Honey Punch Henrie Striped Open Cardigan
This is my first Honey Punch item I’ve received, and I have to say, I like it! Besides my love for Kate Middleton’s fashion sense, I also love nautical/preppy fashion, could be because of my New England upbringing and spending the summers on Cape Cod. This cardigan screams nautical with it’s crisp and clean white and navy stripes. You can’t beat the simplicity of a great cardigan. On top of everything, this cardigan is oh so cozy.

#5 – Leota Aniyah Faux Wrap Knit Dress
I had to save the best for last. There’s nothing more flattering for women than the classic wrap dress. I’m a firm believer every woman should have at least one in her closet. Wrap dresses are effortless and never go out of style, and in my opinion flatter all body types. When my eyes laid upon this beauty I knew it was going to be a keeper right away. Not only is emerald green a beautiful color, but it’s absolutely perfect for the upcoming holiday season, and the perfect red head color! I should note, there’s a very high (sexy) slit on this dress on the side, but it seems to be staying in place fine. I could see Kate Middleton wearing this same dress, so of course I love it. She, like I, can’t stay away from wrap dresses, and you shouldn’t either!

Final Thoughts – Hands down, this is my favorite complete Fix. I absolutely loved every item, and truly felt like Jan was channeling Kate Middleton’s style with each and every piece. Another great thing about this particular fix is how many of the items I could pair with each other, making styling an outfit so easy! I can only hope I get so lucky with my next Fix.

This post is about a month late due to a bunch of work travel and work projects that kept me from having much down time, but fear not I’m here with another review and I’ve got a number of posts lined up for the coming weeks!

When I requested this Fix from Stitch Fix I requested some end of Summer pieces, hoping for some transition articles of clothing that I could wear into Fall. Thankfully, due to the crazy weather here in the North East this box and post is still relevant and I haven’t been able to wear everything yet! Let’s take a closer look.

#1 – Colette Chavez Pop Color Cuff Knit Top
The first item in my Summer to Fall box was this super cute knit top by Colette. I love shirts and jackets that have pops of colors on the sleeve. In fact, this isn’t my first Stitch Fix item that’s used cuffs or sleeves to give you a little something special. As someone from New England, and a lover of beaches, including Cape Cod, I have a love for everything nautical. This top gives you a nautical feel, but elevates it with the pop of pink on the cuffs. It’s simply perfect! You can dress this top up or down, depending on your mood. Looking for a date night outfit? Pair this with dark jeans and some heels. Want to go apple picking or walk around the beach? Pair this top with some distressed jeans or capris and throw on some flats and you’re ready to go.

#2 – 41Hawthorn Evander Dress
My closet is getting full with 41Hawthorn dresses, but I’m not complaining! I saw this dress on Pinterest and I fell in love with it at first sight. The colors and pattern scream Fall, and are super red head friendly if I must say so myself! Green is one of my favorite colors to wear. Fall is finally here, and you can’t go wrong with this dress. It’s extremely comfortable, lightweight and has a liner on the skirt part of the dress. Another great feature of this dress is that it’s travel friendly, something really important to me. I had a conference to attend in California and this baby survived just fine. You won’t worry about wrinkles with this beauty.

#3 – Renee C Laverna Embroidered Tunic
I’m a sucker for tunics. Tunics should be an essential piece in every woman’s wardrobe due to how flattering, forgiving, and comfortable they are. You can also pair tunics with leggings, which you can’t pass up in early Fall. This tunic by Renee C is bright, cheery, and fun. The only thing I would suggest you be cautious about is the neckline. The top is cut very low and isn’t super tight around the chest which can lead to some minor gapping, showing off your bra in certain angles. If you’re worried about showing too much, or want to wear this to work, throw on a camisole or tank top and you’ll be good to go!

#4 – Just Black Joey Skinny Jean
You can’t go wrong with a great pair of skinny jeans. My skinny jeans compromise of blues or blacks, so pulling out a pair of colored jeans was a bit out of my comfort zone, mostly because I never know how to style them. This blush pair is cute, and my Stylist mentioned they’re a great unique neutral for Fall. The fabric of these jeans isn’t typical jean material. The only way I can best explain the feel of these super soft pants is to compare them to jeggings. They feel and fit much more like leggings than regular skinny jeans. I’m a little unsure about the length on me, my legs are long, so I’m always self conscious of the length of pants, but I think I can pair these with booties and call it a day. My Stylist suggested pairing this pair with the Colette top I received above. I’m not sure about the color pairing, but you check it out for yourself below.

#5 – Kut from the Kloth Callie Denim Jacket
Everywhere I look I see women rocking denim jackets. I was starting to get a little envious of their cute style. Low and behold my Stylist surprised me with a Denim Jacket, it’s as if Jan was reading my mind (I didn’t ask for a jacket), and I couldn’t be happier. When I first pulled this jacket out of the box my mom and boyfriend were in the room and they were worried about the proportions of the jacket. Just holding out, not trying it on, you’ll find yourself surprised by the length of the sleeves compared to the body of the jacket. My mom’s terms were “those look like monkey arms.” Haha. Well, you can’t judge a piece of clothing without trying it on! After trying on the jacket, I was pleasantly surprised and excited to be able to pair this with a few of my Summer dresses I wanted to continue to wear into Fall. Due to my chest size, I wouldn’t be able to fully close or button this jacket without looking silly, but I think the style is to wear these types of jackets open for a casual chic look, and hey, I’m good with that! I’ve already gotten some great use out of this denim jacket and I highly recommend you request it in your next Fix!

Final Thoughts – Jan has done it again, another 5 out of 5 for me. I particularly love the denim jacket and 41Hawthorn dress. I’m looking forward to some more cool weather so I can pull on the Colette top and Just Black jeans. I love how this Fix provided some items in my comfort zone (nautical and tunic styles) but also expanded my style a bit with pops of color like the jeans. Stitch Fix continues to excite me and make me feel great.

Springing into Spring with Stitch Fix

Disclosure: This post contains Stitch Fix Affiliate links, and I may receive compensation.

What’s Stitch Fix: An amazing fashion company that provides you with your own personal stylist who picks out pieces based on your style profile, requests, budget and your figure!

Since Spring is just a few days away, for my March fix I wanted to get a head start on Spring! My requests included a tan/beige trench coat, flowy dresses, and a flowy skirt with a top to match. For the most part most of my fix hit the nail on the head, but one item in particular left me disappointed.

#1 – Papermoon Barkley Woven Detail Knit Top
This top is another cute one from Papermoon, giving you the illusion of two tops in one, which is a style I like because it looks like you’ve put more thought into what you’re wearing than you actually did! One small thing I’d change is to make the green part of the shirt a little bit longer, it cuts off at a slightly awkward length. The colors and pattern scream Spring. I really loved how soft this top was and how the back of the top went down further than the front, making it so you could get away with wearing this top with leggings if you wanted. Another cute detail is the print in the neckline opening, something unique and unexpected!

#2 – 41Hawthorn Tova Dress
I was really hoping for a lightweight flowy floral dress for Spring and this 41Hawthorn dress ticks off all my boxes! The print is gorgeous and makes me happy just looking at it. The built in elastic waistline gives the dress a bit more shape and helps make this is a great piece for any body shape. I absolutely love how comfortable and lightweight the dress is, making it a great pick for all sorts of events and locations, be it the office or out on the weekend. I’d also recommend this if you’re attending a bridal shower because it’s such a cheery and bright print.

#3 – Renee C Lindia Printed Swing Skirt
I’m going to showcase the next two pieces together in my personal photo, since my stylist recommend pairing them together, but let’s first start with the skirt by Renee C. I was hoping for a skirt that wasn’t too tight and form fitting that had a little bit of flare to it, and this skirt delivered. The fabric is fairly thick and structured, but you still get a great swing look to it. The pattern is a beautiful navy background with white flowers. One of my favorite colors to wear is navy so this skirt is a perfect addition to my wardrobe.

#4 – Papermoon Gracey Button Front Blouse
When I first pulled this top out I was a little worried with how bright it was, and if it would look ok on me since I have pretty fair skin and red hair – pink isn’t always a redhead’s friend – but it certainly screamed Spring fashion. Eventually, the shirt won me over and I found it was really breezy and comfortable to wear. I can see myself wearing it in most seasons because it has some length to the sleeves but it’s also really light so it can be a pretty versitile piece. Now when I requested a skirt in my Fix, I was specific to ask for a top to go with it since I always have trouble finding tops in my wardrobe to match with skirts (I don’t trust myself basically) but when I saw my stylist suggested this hot pink top with the navy floral skirt I wasn’t sure I’d like the look. I learned my lesson though, and you can’t judge two pieces without trying them on together. I was pleasantly surprised and felt the look was fresh, young, and maybe a bit fashion forward (for my wardrobe anyways).  What do you think?

#5 – Laundry By Shelli Segal Ellin Rain Jacket
The item I was hoping to get the most was a classic trench coat, and was disheartened when I open my stylist’s note to see she wasn’t able to find one, but hoped this coat would do the trick. Do the trick it did not. First off, the color wasn’t doing it for me. It’s bright white, which is far from the tan/beige I was hoping for and I feared it would easily get dirty. The next thing that hit me was the scent. Yes, you read that right, the scent. The jacket smelled like a shower curtain liner, not something I want to go for 🙂 But I figured hey, you’ve got to try it on maybe these initial reactions will go away. Sadly, they didn’t. The coat felt a size too big for me, and it didn’t have a tie belt which really confused me. Why wouldn’t you put a belt on this coat? Without the belt the coat went out pretty far and and it made me feel like I could hide a pregnant belly. I didn’t like the look, smell, or feel of the jacket so I returned it. Thankfully it was expensive enough that it didn’t cause any issues with the savings I would have made by keeping all 5 items.

Final Thoughts: Overall, I was pretty satisfied with my Fix. Several of the pieces I had seen on Pinterest and had even pinned so it was exciting to see them in this month’s box and to know my stylist continues to check out my pins. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the jacket, basically everything I had requested was provided, which is always an awesome treat and surprise because I know not every request is possible with the stock Stitch Fix has on hand. I’ll definitely be ordering another box soon to get some more transition pieces for Spring and Summer. What’s on your spring/summer wish list?

As always, suggestions for a better fix:

  1. Be very specific. If there are certain pieces or types of clothing you really want, provide that in your styling note to your stylist.
  2. Create a Pinterest Board. Stylists will check them out if you keep mentioning them in your style notes.
  3. Call out designers or names of actual articles of clothing . Your stylist may not provide those exact items but they’ll start to get a better sense of what style you’re into.
